RAPESEED
meal
Rapeseed meal is a by—product of rapeseed oil production, obtained after extraction of oil from rapeseed seeds with additional heat treatment (toasting). The key component of rapeseed meal is protein, its content can reach 42% or more. Rapeseed meal is rich in amino acids, their composition is not inferior to sunflower and soy analogues. The content of methionine, an essential sulfur—containing amino acid, which is important for metabolism and reproductive activity, is especially high. The composition also contains B vitamins, macro- and microelements: potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, iron, selenium, copper, manganese; phosphatides, fiber. Rapeseed meal surpasses soy meal in the content of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, as well as some trace elements (manganese, zinc, selenium). Rapeseed meal is used in agriculture as a source of feed protein. It is included in compound feeds or given to animals as an additive to the diet.
